iPad's are a great personal device that can be sent home with your child provided by the school. The device is loaded with a number of applications (some we will investigate on this website) that are designed to assist and develop the skills of coding and understanding of Digital Technology.
As a teaching team, we are able to use the "cloud" as a live and instant way to communicate, plan and execute lessons at a highly efficient rate. By having these tools at our fingertips (literally) we can then provide your children with instant feedback on work, as well as collaborate with them on documents in and out of class.
Students with learning difficulties such as EASL or Hearing impairments also now have these great PD's that can live assist in their learning, to ensure that they are able to stay up to speed with the rest of the class, which allows people like teacher/student aids to be more active in the classroom to more students, which also provides terrific positive reinforcement to those students in their early years of education that their speed is more than suffice in any learning environment.
This activity is designed to test and develop your cloud document skills. On the iPad download Google Docs and then access the file under the iPad photo on this page.
Once you have accessed the document via Google Docs, continue to fill in the "Family Questionnaire". It is recommended that if possible you and your child do this activity together and at the same time, as on cloud based processes this is a possibility and it will be a great, fun way to see how many questions you get right!
By completing this activity, you will have showcased that your son/daughter can collect and evaluate data using software, this comes under the Data Collection strand of a year 4 level, which is a great boost in your child's Digital development. (VCDTDI021)
